Quality and Architecture of Twelve 3D-Woven CFRP and One Laminated Reference [DATASET]

This record contains the necessary data for the evaluation of the fabrics and composites produced in the dissertation “Design of Delamination- and Impact-Resistant Fibre Reinforced Composites based on Customized 3D Multilayer Fabrics" by Philipp Maria Huber, RWTH Aachen University, date of oral examination 31.10.2024. The designed fabrics have been produced on an industrial 3D weaving machine and processed into CFRP. The manufacturing processes are described. Due to the various manufacturing steps and associated process parameters, the real architecture of (3D-woven) CFRP typically differs from the idealized architecture. The data provided is intended to enable the assessment of the quality of the fabrics and composites and to facilitate further use, e.g. in simulations of the real architecture or defects. The following data was collected: * Fabric areal weight and thickness * Fibre volume content of the CFRP * CT scans and individual polished sections of the real architecture
