Macaca thibetana gut microbiome sequencing

This project characterizes the multi-domain gut microbiome of Tibetan macaques (Macaca thibetana), an endemic primate in China, through metagenomic sequencing. Covering three habitat types (wild, semi-provisioned, captive), we systematically investigate:(1) Four-domain composition and diversity gradients across bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protists(2) Environmental adaptation of microbial functional modules(3) Habitat-specific distribution patterns of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs)Core findings reveal impacts of habitat fragmentation on primate gut ecosystems, establishing resources for wildlife conservation and zoonosis control.
