Supplementary Table 1: Baseline characteristics of men living with and without HIV.

Baseline characteristics of Middle-aged Black South African men from the Soweto cohort, investigating longitudinal changes in sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and free testosterone (free T) levels, with and without co-existent HIV. We further explored associations with incident dysglycaemia and measures of glucose metabolism. The table shows that men living with HIV (MLWH) were younger, had a lower fat mass index (FMI) , visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and body mass index (BMI) than men living without HIV (MLWOH). MLWH had higher SHBG and total T concentrations at baseline than MLWOH, whereas free T did not differ between the 2 groups.
