EFL in-service teachers’ beliefs about grammar teaching in the context of public secondary education in Peru

This data serves for the prupose of answering the research questions: what are teachers' beliefs about grammar teaching? 1.1. Is there any significant relationship between teachers’ beliefs about the different aspects of grammar teaching and their teaching experience or education degrees?. The data was obtained through a close-ended questionnaire in which 35 teachers were asked to fill it out. Data shows that that teachers still have common misconceptions about grammar teaching and its inclusion in the communicative approach. Additionally, there was almost no correlations between teachers’ years of teaching experience or education degree and their beliefs, meaning that they share similar views among themselves. The results also suggest a number of challenges that need to be addressed when it comes to teaching grammar in secondary schools in Peru.
The first file shows the data obtained once the responses were inserted into the SPSS programme. The second file shows the results about the correlations between the items of the questionnaire and the other variables: teaching experience and education degrees.
