Raw data for "Temperature sensitivity of organic carbon decomposition in lake sediments is mediated by chemodiversity". The dataset contains organic carbon decomposition rates and their sensitivity to temperature for 50 lake sediments. Analyses showed that decomposition rates were mainly influenced by sediment properties such as pH and carbon content, and were also positively correlated with molecular richness. Temperature sensitivity (<i>Q</i><sub><em>10</em></sub>) is mainly affected by organic carbon quality, and the more biogeochemically recalcitrant the organic matter, the greater the <i>Q</i><sub><em>10</em></sub> of sediment organic carbon decomposition, thus supporting the carbon-quality temperature hypothesis.
