Fill recovered from an isolated roasting pit at site LA165923 in Eddy County, southeast New Mexico, was floated to recover macrofloral remains. Charcoal from the macrofloral sample was submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating. Three stones from the feature, as well as a control stone from the site surface, were examined for organic residues using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Macrofloral and organic residue (FTIR) analyses will be used to provide information concerning food resources processed in the roasting pit.
