Forest soil and decaying wood are inhabited by a large variety of partly common fungal species, but the influence of the decaying logs on soil fungal communities and interaction between soil- and wood-inhabiting communities is still poorly studied. We investigated the composition of fungal communities of these two substrates and tested the hypothesis that soil fungal communities are affected by decaying logs.
