Forest inventory National Park Gesäuse — Resumption 2016/2017

This report presents the results of the 2nd National Park Gesäuse’s Forest Survey (2016-17), which what conducted 10 years after the first run (CARLI & KREINER 2009). 205 plots of 300 m² each were revisited and newly examined. The updated data allows to track the changes that took place in the last decade. Every plot can be aligned to one of 9 forest stand types, which differ as well in basic ecological parameters as potential natural forest types (CARLI 2008). Within these forest stand types, 58 more detailed types (differing in age, tree species, stem density, etc.) are discriminated, characterised and compared to the previous data. Copy photos for every type are provided. Beside this structural approach, several basic parameters such as sea level, stem diameters, living wood stock, dead wood stock, dominant tree species, forest types, rejuvenation, etc. are analysed using all 205 plots. 32 Maps Visualise the Spatial Distribution.
