Global Urbanization Point Dataset

Here, the Global Urbanization Point Dataset is presented. This dataset compiles 101 points of urbanization and 99 points with no land cover change, all collected from locations around the world. It was created using Google Earth Pro by recording the year when urbanization occurred (i.e., when building construction was completed) and the land cover types before and after that year. The observation period for identifying urbanization and stability of land cover spans from 2000 to 2020. Here, we define "urban" as artificial surfaces, such as buildings, roads, and other impervious structures made of concrete and asphalt.
