Integrative taxonomic revision of Melichrus R.Br. (Ericaceae subfam. Epacridoidae).

The data included in this collection were used in a PhD study to revise the eastern Australian Melichrus.<br><br>

Prior to this study, the eastern Australian clade of Melichrus R.Br., a genus of shrubs endemic to Australia, had received very little taxonomic research, yet there had been marked disagreement regarding delimitation of species. The thesis this data contributed to investigated species boundaries in eastern Australian Melichrus (Chapter 3), inferred phylogenetic relationships amongst all species of Melichrus (Chapter 4) and included a new revised taxonomy based on detailed morphological and molecular evidence (Chapters 2 & 5). The morphological dataset is a spreadsheet of morphological characters scored for a selection of Melichrus specimens (analysed for Chapter 3). Metadata on the samples is provided in the spreadsheet row_metadata. Metadata on the characters is provided in the spreadsheet column_metadata. The DArTseq spreadsheets are different formats of SNP data produced for a population level study of the genetics of Melichrus (used in chapters 3 and 4) and the associated metadata. To analyse this data format use R package DArTR. The target capture sequence reads are for 34 species of Melichrus and several outgroup taxa. These reads were used in Chapter 4 and are also available through https://data.bioplatforms.com/.
