The study aim was to determine whether the microenvironmental acidosis in solid tumors contributes to cancer aggressiveness via changes in gene expression. RNA seq was carried out in parallel to a large array of phenotypical analyses of proliferation, growth, and invasiveness. Overall design: 3 human cancer cell lines (2 mammary, 1 pancreatic) adapted for 1-2 months to growth at extracellular pH 7.6 and 6.5, respectively, were subjected to RNA sequencing (BGI Hongkong), each in triplicates.
