The results are based on multilevel model estimates for the mean for DNA synthesis (ct/min) ×1000 comparing no exposure with chitin exposure (see Materials and Methods). The difference between no exposure and chitin is statistically significant (p-value = 0.004). SE = standard error, Conf. interval = Confidence interval. Chitin enhances the stimulation of DNA synthesis in PBMC.
