This dataset contains median hourly earnings data for employees in African countries, sourced from the International Labour Organization (ILO) ILOSTAT database. It covers 36 African countries from 1991 to 2024, with 42,232 observations. The core indicator is Median hourly earnings of employees by sex, economic activity and currency (indicator code: EAR_EHRM_SEX_ECO_CUR_NB). The data provides detailed disaggregation dimensions including sex (total, male, female), economic activity, and currency type. The dataset schema includes columns such as country code, country name, data source, indicator code, indicator name, classification variables, observation year, observed value, observation status, and related notes. The data is derived from ILO-harmonized raw survey microdata using International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) definitions, with source flags for traceability. It is suitable for tabular classification, tabular regression, and time-series forecasting tasks, primarily for labor economics, income inequality research, and African regional economic analysis. The dataset is repackaged by Electric Sheep Africa in Parquet format for machine learning readiness.
