Microbial H2 metabolism in Lubna soils

Natural hydrogen exploration relies on soil gas measurements, but distinguishing geological from microbial sources remains challenging. This study characterizes soil microbial communities from Southern Moravia, Czech Republic, where elevated hydrogen (>1000 ppmv) was detected.Using 16S rRNA sequencing of sand-rich and clay-rich soils, we identified hydrogen-producing and consuming taxa to determine whether microbial processes can generate substantial soil gas hydrogen.
