If the ratio of the change in packaging product demand exceeds that of price changes, the demand for the packaging product is considered elastic, meaning customers are highly sensitive to price fluctuations of the packaging product. The greater the elasticity, the more sensitive the demand is to price changes. In this scenario, all enterprises in the industry can appropriately lower the prices of their packaging products to achieve higher revenues. Conversely, if the demand for the packaging product is inelastic, enterprises can appropriately raise the product prices to gain more revenues. Data Collection: Demand and price data of relevant packaging products in Hebei Province over a specified period were collected, and organized and summarized at the municipal level across the province, to obtain the changes in packaging product demand volume and price changes. 2. Algorithm Rules: The collected data are calculated using the following formula to derive the demand elasticity coefficient: Demand Elasticity Coefficient $E_d = -(Delta Q/Q) div (Delta P/P)$ In the formula: $Q$ represents the product demand volume, with the unit of "units"; $P$ represents the product price, with the unit of "yuan"; $Delta Q$ represents the year-on-year change in demand volume, with the unit of "units"; $Delta P$ represents the year-on-year change in price, with the unit of "yuan". The absolute value of the demand elasticity coefficient $|E_d|$ is taken as the reference coefficient for data analysis. 3. Data Analysis: The price elasticity of demand for the packaging product can be analyzed based on the value of $|E_d|$: (1) $|E_d| = 1$ (Unitary price elasticity of demand): Indicates that the magnitude of change in demand volume is consistent with that of price changes; (2) $1 < |E_d|$ (Demand is elastic): Indicates that the magnitude of change in demand volume is greater than that of price changes; (3) $|E_d| < 1$ (Demand is inelastic): Indicates that the magnitude of change in demand volume is less than that of price changes.
