Chinese Strategic Partnerships -- Dataset for “Where to Throw the Hook? Chinese Strategic Partnership Selection and Its Effectiveness in Achieving Influence”

The dataset includes original variables on China’s strategic partnerships, collected and coded by the author from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It also includes variables that are coded or calculated from public data sources, including the World Bank, SIPRI, V-Dem, and UN voting records. These cover indicators such as UN voting similarity, trade dependency, arms sales, and other related variables for countries from 1980 to 2022. Full details on variable coding rules, classification criteria, and calculation procedures are available in the published article. A codebook and README file are included in the dataset.
