Statistical tables. Inventory of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere of the Basque Country 1990-2021.

The Inventory of Pollutant Emissions to the Atmosphere is developed in order to evaluate and update annually the anthropogenic emissions by sources of pollutants regulated by the “Geneva Convention on Long Distance Transboundary Air Pollution” and the “National Emission Ceilings Directive”, in accordance with existing international and Community criteria and standards. The calculation methodologies adopted ensure the comparability of the annual data series with those of other countries, within the framework of the above-mentioned international conventions. This inventory therefore includes statistical information for both acidifying and eutrophicant substances, as well as for tropospheric ozone precursors and particulate matter in statistical series from 1990 to the present. In this context, the European Union has been adopting over time a set of legal provisions requiring Member States to develop emission inventory information systems and to develop projections of future developments in air pollutants and greenhouse gases under different scenarios.
