The genome of Candida hispaniensis strain CBS 9996 has been sequenced using 454 technology. The assembly was made with Celera assembler and resulted in 7 scaffolds larger than 5 kb with a coverage of 39.46X. The rDNA cluster was assembled independently and manually integrated between scaffolds harboring partial rDNA units at one of their extremities. The final assembly relies on 6 scaffolds, one per chromosome, for a total size of 10,652,573 bp and a G+C content of ca 41.6%. Annotation of protein-coding genes was performed using the Amadea Annotation transfer tool (Isoft, France), with Yarrowia lipolytica genome as reference, and manually curated using RNA-Seq data. Other genetic elements (tRNA, snRNA, centromeres and transposable elements) were expertly added.
