Microscopic eukaryotes are key factors in ecosystem functioning, but their diversity remains largely unexplored in most environments. To deepen our knowledge about eukaryotic micro-organisms and to address the factors structuring their communities, a high- throughput sequencing approach was used to characterize their diversity and spatial distribution along the pollution gradient of the acid mine drainage of Carnoulès mine (France).
