资源简介:
This Figshre contains the data underpinning the findings of the associated manuscript. In brief, 16 horses (5 sound, 3 forelimb lame, 7 hindlimb lame and 1 both fore- and hindlimb lame) were walked along a hard track with inertial measurement units (IMUs) attached to the lateral aspect of each hoof. The IMUs contained gyroscopes which measured angular velocities in the x-, y- and z-directions (relative to the reference system of the device) at a frequency of 200Hz.The resultants of angular velocity were calculated and used to detect the gait events: hoof-on, -off and onset of breakover. From these, temporal gait parameters were calculated. Results indicate that, whilst stride and stance duration appear to have been unaffected by lameness, there was an effect on breakover duration. For sound horses, the breakover duration of the left and right limbs of fore- and hindlimb pairs demonstrated a high degree of symmetry; whereas, in lame limb pairs, there was a breakdown in this symmetry, with the breakover duration of the lame limb being significantly longer than that of the contralateral limb. This finding held for all horses included in the study. The pattern should be investigated further to explore its usefulness as an indicator of lameness.
