Time-series investigation of alterations in gut microbiota in prostate cancer bearing mice

The gut microbiota was reported associated with many diseases, including cancers. Several bac-terial taxa were shown associated with cancer development or response to treatment. However, longitudinal microbiota alterations during development of cancers was relatively unexplored. To better understand how microbiota changes, we profiled the gut microbiota composition from prostate cancer bearing mice and control mice at five different time points. Distinct gut microbiota bio-diversities were found in cancer bearing mice and control mice. Ak-kermansiaceae was found significantly higher at first three weeks in cancer bearing mice which implies its role in the early stage of the cancer colonization.
