The main aim of this study is to metagenomically monitor the microbial communities in a site contaminated with volatile organic compounds over time to identify microorganisms and functional genes linked to hydrocarbon degradation. This will allow for a greater understanding of the molecular processes underlying bioremediation and of the complex behavior of those microbes that have biodegradation potential, particularly when they are members of a community
