This study was performed to isolate and characterize a bacteriophage against Klebsiella pneumoniae. The isolated bacteriophage was purified and characterized for its general microbiological and physiological characteristics to be used for bacteriophage therapy. The bacteriophage TSK1 showed profound antibacterial activity against its host bacterial strain and showed other characteristics, which made it a suitable candidate for use in bacteriophage therapy. The genome of the bacteriophage has a length of 49.836 Kb and contains 75 open reading frames. Additionally, the TSK1 phage also demonstrated the ability to remove the biofilms produced by Klebsiella pneumoniae. All the above-mentioned characteristics along with some efficacy experiments on animal infection model will further prove the suitability of this bacteriophage for therapy.
