Deep-time Sediment Sulfur Isotopes (DSSI): a database of sedimentary sulfur isotopic records through Earth history
收藏资源简介:
The Deep-time Sediment Sulfur Isotopes (DSSI) Database is a source-traceable compilation of sedimentary and mineral-associated sulfur isotope records spanning Earth history. Version 1.0 contains 78,070 records organized in 136 data fields, including sulfur isotope measurements, sulfur phase classification, source provenance, age and stratigraphy, geographic and reconstructed paleogeographic coordinates, lithology, depositional setting, analytical method, and auxiliary geochemical information where available. This release is provided as an Excel workbook with two worksheets. The data worksheet contains the database records. The references worksheet contains one bibliographic entry for each of 793 normalized source DOIs, with metadata obtained from Crossref or DataCite and the number of linked DSSI records. Sulfur isotope values are stored in unified numerical fields and are linked to a hierarchical classification of sulfur category, sulfur component, and sulfur carrier. This structure enables users to construct transparent, phase-specific subsets while retaining their geological context. The age_ma field is intended for plotting and temporal filtering and may represent a source-reported numerical age, an age from a documented age-depth or age-height model, or a GTS2023 stage-midpoint value. It should therefore not be interpreted uniformly as a direct geochronological determination. The DSSI compilation, standardization, metadata, and documentation are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Users should cite this dataset record, the associated DSSI article when available, and the original source literature relevant to reused records.
