The 1985 spawning biomass of the central subpopulatlon of the northern anchovy (Engrau 11 s mordax) Is 521,000 mtons. This estimate was made using the egg production method which computes the spawning biomass as the ratio of the dally egg production rate and the daily specific fecundity. For the entire population, the egg production rate was 16.95x10^ 2 eggs/day and the dally specific fecundity was 37.00x106 eggs/day-mton.
