Microbial Characterization of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Tissues and Adjacent Healthy Tissues

This project aims at characterizing the bacterial microbiota of lung tissues by 16S gene amplicon sequencing. 29 patients diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer undergoing lobectomy were recruted. Cancerous and adjacent healthy tissues were collected according to the protocol described by Dumont-Leblond et al. (2020). Each pair of tissue (29) has its negative control to account for contaminants. A better comprehension of the composition of the lung microbiota and its role in cancerogenesis and treatment may lead to the development of new therapeutic avenues.
