In this study we extracted environmental DNA and sequenced the 16S rRNA gene from water samples of two lakes located at the Station de biologie des Laurentides of the Universite de Montreal (UdeM, Quebec, Canada), lakes Croche and Cromwell. The target communities were Bacteria and Archaea from the subsurface and bottom (anoxic) layers, which were studied over the summer of 2018 (6 sampling dates from May to October).
