VPRS 5391 Index To Proceedings Under the Justices Act 1877

Under the Justices of the Peace Act Amendment 1877 any person feeling aggrieved by the summary conviction or order of any justice might apply to have the Supreme Court review the judgment of the Justice of the Peace. The Act specified the procedures to occur in such a case. This means of appeal against the rulings of a Justice of the Peace in a summary jurisdiction became the process of Orders to Review under the Justices of the Peace Act 1887.This series consists of the Index to proceedings brought under these sections of the Justices of the Peace Act Amendment 1877. For each entry are given the names associated with the matter, the justices appealed against, the nature of the proceeding and the number allocated by the Court to the case before it.
