In this study, we collected Human Bronchial Epithelial Cells (HBEC) from three clinical samples donated by healthy, adult non-smokers of diverse ages, genders, and races. Each sample was bifurcated, with one part infected by H1N1 influenza virus, A/PR/34/8 (PR8), and the other left uninfected. The Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinION platform was used to directly sequence polyadenylated and non-polyadenylated host and viral RNAs from HBEC cells. The average length of RNA reads was above 6 kb, with high-quality data evidenced by an average identity and read accuracy above 0.95 and 95%, respectively.
