This repository contains the research outputs from the development and application of a self-built Raman spectrometer for polymer characterization and reference solvents. The project investigates the use of Raman spectroscopy as a non-destructive analytical technique to identify and compare polymer materials through their characteristic vibrational spectra. Included in the repository are: Two Excel spreadsheets containing interpolated and raw spectral data from all measured samples, named Raman_RawData and Raman_RawData2. Seven .txt files containing Raman spectra of the following polymer samples: Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) Polyamide 6 / Nylon 6 (PA6) Polycarbonate (PC) Polyethylene (PE) Polystyrene (PS) Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) Twenty-three .csv files containing Raman spectra of polymer samples and reference solvents, including: Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Phenol-formaldehyde resin (PF) Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) Polypropylene (PP) Polystyrene (PS) Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) Unsaturated polyester resin (UP) Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) EVA, L-SBR, PA6, PC, PE Reference solvents including acetone, chloroform, cyclohexane, ethanol, and methanol This repository is intended as a resource for research and educational purposes in Raman spectroscopy, polymer identification, and low-cost spectroscopic instrumentation development or calibration. The Raman spectrometer used in this study employed a 532 nm excitation laser, and all experiments were conducted at the Technical University of Vienna.
