The role of coffee microbiomes in pathogen resistance across Coffea arabica varieties and ecological niches

This project characterizes the bacterial and fungal microbiomes associated with two Coffea arabica L. varieties exhibiting contrasting resistance to coffee leaf rust: Bourbon (susceptible) and PT (resistant). Samples were collected from five ecological niches fruit, leaves, roots, rhizosphere soil, and bulk soil to perform 16S rRNA and ITS sequencing. The study aims to elucidate microbial community differences related to pathogen resistance, providing insights into plant-microbe interactions in coffee cultivation.
