Biogeography of Streptomyces. Streptomyces

A Streptomyces culture collection was assembled from ecologically similar sites across the United States including meadow, pasture, or native grasslands dominated by perennial grasses and having moderately acidic soil (pH: 6.0 ± 1.0; mean ± s.d.). For this project, we used comparative population genomics to identify potential evolutionary, ecological, and demographic processes that create patterns of contemporary biogeography, including a latitudinal diversity gradient, in terrestrial soil microbes.
