Current two-site myoelectric control strategy selection and site-finding processes are often slow, challenging, and can lead to sub-optimal outcomes. Liberating Technologies, Inc., along with its clinical partners and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) aim to improve these processes. LTI is developing a diagnostic device that clinicians can use to accurately and efficiently location the optimal control strategy and electrode location. The device accomplishes this by recording the electrical signal on large portions of the patient’s arm. The aim is that electrode sites and control strategy selection will lead to greater device adoption, a reduction in contralateral overuse injuries, and an improved quality of life for individuals with upper limb difference.
