Precisely CrimeIndex (US) data measures the likelihood of where crime may occur by 11 crime types for all block groups in the US and Puerto Rico.

- Each crime variable includes both a numerical score – where higher values denote the increased likelihood of criminal activity – and a qualitative categorization that helps explain the relative crime level when compared to the Nation as a whole.
- A State-wise score is also provided to allow users to perform within-State comparison of geographic areas. This set of variables (crime scores and qualitative categories) has been bundled with Block Group boundaries to create the CrimeIndex (US) data product.
- Precisely defines crime according to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) definitions for crime.
