Urban soils, both sources and sinks for greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), have a significant effect on Earth's temperature. However, knowledge gaps remain regarding how variations in vegetation types and soil horizons affect GHG fluxes. Soil samples from forest and grassland were collected to determine GHG fluxes, physicochemical properties, and extracellular enzyme activities. Meanwhile, structures and functional genes of soil microbial community were analyzed using metagenomic sequencing technology.
