Proof of wolf

The map shows the occupied cells of the last completed monitoring year (the monitoring year starts on 01.05 and ends on 30 April of the following year, the conclusion usually takes place in December of the following year). The first safe detection of a wolf in Baden-Württemberg was successful in 2015. The filled 10 x 10 km grid cells were marked “occupied” according to the BfN monitoring standards (either 1x C1 or 3x C2 according to SCALP criteria) and always refer to the monitoring year starting on 01.05 and ending on 30 April of the following year. C1 detection includes wolves found dead, photo or video documentation, captured animals and genetic evidence. At the time of the first provision of this data, no telemetry data was available. This can change in the future. Evaluated telemetry data can count as C1 detection according to the BfN monitoring standards. C2 evidence shall be deemed to have been confirmed by experienced persons, such as cracks of livestock and wild animals or traces. For both the sensitivity of the animals and the large stripping areas, the evidence is only published with a resolution of 10 x 10 km. The evidence comes from the FVA and is based both on its own investigations and on reports from external persons.
