This dataset contains the complete microbial genome annotation report of Paenibacillus naphthalenovorans PETKKU2, a novel bacterium capable of degrading polyethylene terephthalate microplastics (PET-MP). The dataset includes analyses of read quality, de novo assembly, genome completeness and contamination, genome-based taxonomy, gene annotation, antimicrobial resistance profiling, secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters, and orthologous cluster comparison. These data support the publication “Enhanced biodegradation of polyethylene terephthalate microplastics by Paenibacillus naphthalenovorans PETKKU2: Optimization and novel degradation pathway,” providing genomic evidence and functional annotations related to PET-MP biodegradation mechanisms.
