Starburst-AGN relation in two nearby galaxies with low luminosity AGN

We propose to study two nearby faceon galaxies, NGC1097 and NGC1566, whichpresent circumnuclear starforming and unobscured AGN activity (Sy1), whoseXray emission can be separated with XMMNewton. Data available in otherwavelenghts, combined with our Xray data, will aid to characterize theAGNstarburst connection in these galaxies, which can help in disentangling bothtypes of activity in objects at farther distances. Hard Xray emission is asignature of AGN activity, while soft Xray emission is attributed to hot plasmaheated by mechanical energy released by stellar winds and supernovae. XMMNewtondata are key for this, as quality spectra can be obtained for the nucleus andcircumnuclear rings and the AGN and starburst contributions can be characterized. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
