README for datasets used in Pilewskie et al., submitted, "How do Convective Cloud Properties and Environments Differ between Equatorial Africa and South America?", Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres Each zipped folder contains monthly CloudSat Convective Object (CO) data for each year between August 2006 - December 2010. Each file varies between 260 KB to 1.6 MB in size. The files have the following filename structure format: YYYYMonth_filetype_V8.csv Where:# YYYY - year between 2006 to 2010# Month - month between January to December # filetype - one of the following: - "Environmental_Parameters": co-located environmental variables from ECMWF reanalyses and ancillary CloudSat data products - "PedestalMorphology": variables describing convective cloud objects - "Sounding": thermodynamic (temperature and humidity) and dynamic (wind speed) profiles co-located to COs - "Surface_Parameters": co-located surface environmental variables from ERA5
