The major aim of this study is to understand how gene changes impact the normal expression of genes in distinct layers of tissue at the back of the eye that are essential for vision (including the neurosensory retina, the retinal pigment epithelium and the choroid). By doing this, we aim to further understand the gene expression profiles in specialised cell types in the human eye, and to quantify the impact of rare and common genetic variants on expression levels.
