Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer Area of Common Ground Water Supply Boundary

The 2024 Legislature passed Senate Bill 1341, expanding the area of common ground water supply (ACGWS) for the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer (ESPA) to reflect the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer Model boundary, v2.2. This dataset displays the outline of the area where model grid cells are used in the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer Modeling (ESPAM) effort (v. 2.1 and 2.2). The Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer model (version 2) is used for water management decisions, including conjunctive administration of surface and groundwater. Idaho Code 42-233c allows the Idaho Department of Water Resources Director to expand, hold hearings, and issue orders regarding the expansion of the Areas of Common Groundwater Supply. The boundary of the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer Areas of Common Groundwater Supply will continue to evolve as new tributaries are added to the existing boundary. This boundary represents the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer Model (ESPAM) boundary and includes tributary basins that have been incorporated into the Area of Common Groundwater Supply through final orders of the Director that are no longer subject to protest or appeal.
