Genome sequencing of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. cassiae (Kulkarni et al. 1951) Vauterin et al. 1995

We sequenced several strains of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. cassiae (Kulkarni et al. 1951) Vauterin et al. 1995 from the National Collection of Plant Pathogenic Bacteria. Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. cassiae is a bacterial pathogen responsible for causing bacterial blight in cassia plants (Cassia spp.). This disease manifests as water-soaked lesions on leaves, stems, and pods, which can lead to significant agricultural losses. The pathogen thrives in warm, humid environments, making it a major concern in tropical and subtropical regions. Effective control measures and disease management strategies are essential to mitigate the impact of X. axonopodis pv. cassiae on cassia crop production.
