资源简介:
This dataset consists of field measurements of soil properties made during 2012 and 2013 in areas A to D of Intensive Site 1 at the Next-Generation Ecosystem Experiments (NGEE) Arctic site near Utqiagvik (Barrow), Alaska. Included are i) weekly measurements of thaw depth, soil moisture, presence and depth of standing water and soil temperature made during the 2012 and 2013 growing seasons (June to September) and ii) half-hourly measurements of soil temperature logged continuously during the period June 2012 to September 2013. There are a total of 47 files in this dataset. Some data were originally provided in Excel workbooks, these files have been preserved as XLSX files within the zip "Original_Files" and also separated by plot ID, year, and/or depth into CSV files. Some functions, features, and formatting were lost during the transformation. Regarding "additional temperature" CSVs, data curators made their best attempt to label plot titles and measurements in those files. Additional documentation and information can be found in file(s) labelled as BEO_soil_properties_user_file.pdf. The Next-Generation Ecosystem Experiments: Arctic (NGEE Arctic), was a research effort to reduce uncertainty in Earth System Models by developing a predictive understanding of carbon-rich Arctic ecosystems and feedbacks to climate. NGEE Arctic was supported by the Department of Energy's Office of Biological and Environmental Research. The NGEE Arctic project had two field research sites: 1) located within the Arctic polygonal tundra coastal region on the Barrow Environmental Observatory (BEO) and the North Slope near Utqiagvik (Barrow), Alaska and 2) multiple areas on the discontinuous permafrost region of the Seward Peninsula north of Nome, Alaska. Through observations, experiments, and synthesis with existing datasets, NGEE Arctic provided an enhanced knowledge base for multi-scale modeling and contributed to improved process representation at global
