Vpr
and Vpx amino acid sequences were retrieved from the Los Alamos HIV sequence
database https://www.hiv.lanl.gov/content/sequence/NEWALIGN/align.html. The
alignment was performed using PRANK and the phylogeny was done with PhyML (JTT+G+I
model) with 1,000 bootstraps as node support. These data were used for Extended
Data Fig. 4e.
