资源简介:
In January and February 1998, St. Louis District personnel contacted Vernon Campbell of the Washington, D.C. Army National Guard (DCARNG) Headquarters and Nancy Kassner of the Washington, D.C. Historic Preservation Division (HPD), to inquire about archaeological and historic buildings survey work conducted on the Washington, D.C. ARNG Armory. This document discusses the prehistoric and historic contexts of the Washington, D.C. area, and provides a list of Native American tribes that may be culturally affiliated to land owned by the Armory.
To date, the DCARNG Armory has not been investigated for archaeological resources. Only one historic building survey has been conducted at the Armory. No archaeological sites have been located on the Armory’s property. The building is not listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it has been determined potentially eligible for listing. No archaeological collections belonging to the DCARNG Armory are known at this time, but this will be verified during the second phase of this project, to be completed during Fiscal Year 1999.
