Over the last six years, lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) have been extensively employed to control sea lice affecting Atlantic salmon. Unfortunately, lumpfish deployed in net pens suffer high mortalities (50 - 98%) in late summer, due to increased sea temperatures and higher occurrence of bacterial infections. Furthermore, Lumpfish is an opportunistic feeder and only 13.5 - 38 % of lumpfish present in net pens have been found to graze on sea lice. Robustness and sea lice grazing are therefore key traits whose improvement, through genomics-based selective breeding, would bring benefits to salmon aquaculture. We have whole genome shotgun sequenced DNA from a single male using both Illumina short-read and Oxford Nanopore long-read technologies, and constructed a de novo assembly using Masurca (scaffolds = 5735, scaffold N50 = 811K, total bases = 553 MB).
