This register contains a summary record of all homestead selections in the Land District of Balranald, kept by the Balranald Lands Office.The Homestead Selection tenure was introduced in 1895 by the Crown Lands Act of 1895 (58 Vic. No.18). Upon compliance with conditions, a perpetual lease grant could be issued to the lessee. The lease was subject to the payment of a perpetual rent, payable half-yearly.Each entry records information such as the date, particulars of disbursement, treasury receipt number and the cash book folio.This register also contains additional records for Land Sales by Auction, Land Sales by Selection after Auction, Conditional Land Sales, Special Leases, Leases, Settlement Leases, Timber Licenses and Licenses to Quarry Stone, Miscellaneous Accounts of Land Agents, Contingent Receipts, Parchment Forms, Registration Forms and Stamp Duties, Lithographs and Minerals other than Gold.
