With 16S rRNA metagene profiling targeting the V3 hypervariable region, we elucidate the association of phylogenetically diverse endophytic bacteria in the shoot tip tissue of banana field suckers that was gathered aseptically. Proteobacteria formed the predominant phylum succeeded by Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Acidobacteria and Fusobacteria. A notable share of OTUs and reads appeared unassigned. This molecular analysis has revealed considerable uncultivable bacterial diversity in banana shoot-tips.
