93-11, one of the main Indica cultivar in China, serve as a reference genome of basic and breeding research for decades. With the development of sequencing technology and dramatic decrease of cost, several chromosome-level assemblies of rice genomes were reported in recent years, which also unveiled the complex genetic diversity of rice cultivars especially in the domestication traits.Since 93-11 is also the parental of super-hybrid rice LYP9, a high-quality reference genome for 93-11 is necessary for both Indica cultivar evolution and molecular breeding.
