National Driving Performance Survey 2014 The survey of domestic driving performance was largely identical to the previous study of 2002. For a stratified sample of vehicles, the mileage is collected in a defined period by means of a two-way speedometer reading. Average and total driving performance can be determined by extrapolating the full year and the total stock of vehicles registered in the central vehicle register. From this, deeply structured results can be derived both on the stand and for the development of the performance of motor vehicles registered in Germany. The analyses included all types of motor vehicles, from the mofa to the tractor unit (not included, among other things, arable tractors and vehicles of the Federal Police and the Bundeswehr). For the first time, robust performance indicators for vehicles with alternative drives and energy sources (such as electric or hybrid) as well as vehicles used as part of new transport services (such as long-distance buses) were also determined. Survey of domestic driving performance On the basis of an innovative survey methodology for traffic censuses with combined use of radar and video technology, a comprehensive survey of the traffic situation on the road network of the Federal Republic of Germany was carried out in order to measure the “domestic driving performance”.
